Eventing is a competition that involves 3 disciplines; Dressage, Showjumping and Cross country. The competition will test the accuracy, skill, stamina, ability and fitness of both the Horse and Rider, it is run on a cumulative penalty basis, the competitor with the least penalties doing best. The same horse and rider combination must complete all three phases.
At KHPC we run rallies throughout the year in each discipline preparing members for the Eventing season. The season begins in May with each Area of the Irish Pony Club holding their own One Day Event (ODE) Go to calendar here
With safety in mind, riders competing for the first time must be signed off by a DC/Instructor see safety rules here
Each rider must attend a number of One Day Events and achieve at least 2 clear cross country rounds to qualify for the Eventing Championships (held in late August) KHPC Team selection is based on the riders results in the ODE’s attended. More info on team selection policy to follow.
Categories for the IPC Eventing Championships are as follows: Open (1.10m), Intermediate Teams & Individual (1m), Junior Teams & Individual (U15s 90cm), U12’s Team & Individual (80cm)
